Holiday in Egypt will be twice as expensive after charter flights resumption

UFA, 28 September 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. A holiday in Egypt after the resumption of charter flights can rise in price by half. Travel industry experts expect that Egypt will be opened for Russian tourists in October. The President of the Union of Travel Agencies Sergey Golov told «Izvestia» newspaper that the resumption of flights to Egypt will be phased: under favourable conditions regular flights to Cairo will open in the first half of October, and charters to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh - a few weeks after that.

He predicted that in the first three weeks after the Egypt opening for Russians as a tourist destination the cost of trips to the Red Sea resorts can grow. The average price tag is projected to be between 60 to 100 thousand rubles per week for two people. At the same time a year ago you could rest for two weeks in Egypt for this money.

In turn, the general director of the Airports Association Victor Gorbachev believes that massive charter flights to Egypt will resume only after half a year after this destination opening, by the spring.

"Flights can be cancelled by just one stroke of the pen, but it is very difficult to resume them. 60-70 percent of the traffic in Egypt was carried out by Russian airlines. Almost a year this area was closed. The staff was cut down and relocated, no one will just keep people", said Victor Gorbachev.

The Head of Analytical Department of the "Aviation Personnel" Association Margarita Yuskina said that about three thousand employees of air transport were given notice of redundancy over the past six months.

Air traffic between Russia and Egypt was terminated in November last year after an explosion on board the plane, which was flying from Sharm El Sheikh to St Petersburg.
