Bashkiria residents are invited to support World Car Free Day

UFA, 21 September 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Republic of Bashkortostan invites republican residents to contribute to the air protection - to support the World Day without World Car Free Day. This day is marked on September 22, and is intended to remind about the problems that come with motor vehicles.

Major cities in many countries on that day reduce the use of cars for trips around the city in favour of trams, trolley-buses, buses, subway and other public transport, as well as bicycles and walking.

The problem of air pollution by vehicles emission is global; it is typical not only for cities, but also for small towns. The Ministry of Ecology RB presents data of the report on state of the environment. According to statistical figures, the total amount of pollutants into the atmosphere in the whole region is more than 885 000 tons, including by cars - more than 450 thousand tons. In Ufa, more than 222 thousand tons of emissions get into the air, more than 81 thousand tons from motor vehicles.
