15 people donated blood for National Registry of Bone Marrow Donors in Ufa

UFA, 21 September 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. On World Marrow Donor Day 230 donors addressed to the Republican Blood Transfusion Station (RSPK). Of these, 15 people expressed their desire to become potential donors of stem cells. As explained by the station, their tests will be sent to the first St. Petersburg Medical University for typing and inclusion in the National Register of Potential Bone Marrow Donors. A procedure for determining a set of genes responsible for tissue compatibility will be conducted there. Then the data will be entered into a special database. If the set of genes of potential donor and recipient match, the donor will be contacted, a medical examination will be held, once again he will be asked to confirm his desire to become a donor and the procedure itself will be conducted.

Republican Blood Transfusion Station joined the formation of the all-Russian register of potential bone marrow donors last year. Currently, the register contains data of 158 citizens of the republic. Total National Register of Potential Bone Marrow Donors includes more than 57 thousand people.
