Bashkortostan team participates in Russian Paralympics tournament in Moscow

UFA, 7 September 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. The Bashkortostan team participates in the Russian Paralympics tournament to be held in the Moscow region. An opening ceremony of the tournament for the Russian athletes banned from the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will be held at the "Crocus City Hall" in Krasnogorsk today, on September 7.

The tournament will take place on 8-9 September at the venues of "Novogorsk" and "Krugloe Lake" training centres in the Moscow region, as well as other sport centres.

According to the Ministry of Youth and Sports RB, 13 athletes of the republic will took part in the tournament.

"Representatives of Bashkortostan will perform in four sports. Andrey Zhirnov, Andrey Koptev, Anna Kulinich-Sorokina, Alexey Labzin, Elena Pautova and Alina Samigulina will compete for medals in track and field; Mikhail Zimin, Anna Krivshina, Bogdan Mozgovoi and Arthur Saifutdinov in swimming. Among fencers Albert Kamalov and Timur Hamatshin can count on medals; Elena Prokofieva will compete in table tennis", the Ministry informs.

18 sports will be presented in the tournament : rowing, kayaking and canoeing, track and field, weightlifting, swimming, shooting, archery, cycling, sitting volleyball, goalball, Judo, horse riding, table tennis, wheelchair tennis, triathlon, wheelchair fencing, futzal and football for persons with cerebral palsy.

The initiator of the competition for the Russian athletes with disabilities was the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Previously it was also reported that the prize money of the tournament will be identical to the Olympic ones.
