Containers of All-Russian "Ecobox" project are installed in Bashkiria

UFA, 30 August 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. 16 containers as part of the "Ecobox" All-Russian Social Environmental Project are installed in Buraevo region of Bashkortostan. The containers for collection and temporary storage of mercury-containing energy-saving lamps, thermometers and batteries appeared in 13 settlements of the area. Ecoboxes installation in the republic takes place in the framework of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology RB and the Council for Natural Heritage Conservation of the Federation Council. The project implementation supposes installation of more than 10 thousand ecoboxes for collection of hazardous household waste.

"Bashkortostan is the first region where this project is launched. The first 700 ecoboxes are installed in Ufa," said the head of the project Alexander Gusev. "Ecoboxes will enable residents of villages and towns of Buraevo region to dispose properly and without harm to health more than four million energy-saving lamps and about 112 kg of batteries monthly. This will not only have a positive impact on the state of ecological environment, but also will help to prevent diseases associated with mercury vapour poisoning".
