Social activists will control over accessible environment creation in apartment buildings in Bashkortostan

UFA, 22 July 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Arina Rakhimkulova/. The All-Russian People's Front will oversee creation of accessible environment for disabled people in apartment buildings. This was stated by the head of the All-Russian People's Front Centre for independent monitoring of the RF President Decrees "National Expertise" Nikolay Nikolaev, commenting on the decision of the Government on the requirements for apartment buildings adapted for people with disabilities.

In a three-month period it is necessary to adopt rules for checking feasibility of reconstruction and overhaul of houses where disabled people live. The All-Russian People's Front will check an actual compliance with these rules. The results of inspections should really reflect the requirements of those people with disabilities who live in a particular house.

In Russia today there are about 13 million people with disabilities. In Bashkortostan, the number of citizens with disabilities is more than 300 thousand. In Ufa, over the past year ramp devices for wheelchair persons were installed in 17 apartment buildings.

The results of this direction development are organization of an accessible environment in the major cultural centres of the republic, such as the "Bashkortostan" State Concert Hall, the first Rural Paralympic Centre in Mishkino region and other facilities.
