Ministry of Ecology RB: smog over Ufa and major cities will move away by weekend

UFA, 21 July 2016. /Bashinform News Agency/. The situation with a smog occurrence over Ufa and near other Bashkiria cities was commented on by the Ecology Minister Ildar Khadyev.

According to the Minister, the reason for this phenomenon is unfavourable weather conditions: calm weather, high temperatures, the city surfaces became hot. This leads to accumulation of dust particles and all types of emissions in the air.

“The same phenomenon was in 2010, but then the situation was much more serious, and such period was long enough”, Ildar Khadyev added. “Today, the relevant services report that companies operate normally, without accidents, and automatic analytical control stations do not fix the excess of permissible level of air pollution. There are suggestions of meteorologists that air masses from the regions with forest fires can cover the area. But it should be shown in excess of carbon monoxide, which we do not see so far.”

According to the Minister, the movement of air masses should increase, north wind will change to south-west with higher probability of precipitation and the air will get cleaner.
