Summer International Children's Games 2019 will be held in Ufa
UFA, 12 July 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Alexander Smirnov/. Ufa won the right to host the Summer International Children's Games 2019. On July 11, this decision was announced at a meeting of the Committee of the International Children's Games in New Taipei (Taiwan) in the framework of the jubilee 50th Summer Games.
During the presentation of the Ufa bid the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov addressed to the members of the Committee with a video message.
“Bashkortostan is one of the leading economic, scientific and cultural centres of Russia. It is open to friendship and cooperation. The number of countries - our partners in business and commerce - exceeded one hundred. Our region is one of the "youngest" in the country in number of children and youth. We are a sports republic, and we often host major international competitions. We have created excellent conditions for the development of sport, including children and youth one,” said the Head of the Region. “We will do everything to make the Summer International Children's Games 2019 a bright sports holiday.”
Previously, the capital of Bashkortostan hosted 6th Winter International Children Games-2013. The competition was attended by teams from 60 cities of 20 countries. Athletes competed for 170 medals in seven sports: skiing, ice hockey, figure skating, short track, snowboarding, orienteering and cross-country skiing. According to the results of the competitions the Ufa team took the first place in the total medal count having won 16 awards.
The Summer Games 2019 will include competitions in ten sports, which will be held at the sports facilities of Ufa.
