Over 300 citizens donated blood on Donor Day in Bashkiria

On June 14, on the World Blood Donor Day 346 people donated blood in Bashkortostan, the Republican Blood Transfusion Station (RSPK) reports. Of these, 211 people donated blood in Ufa, 71 - in Oktyabrsky, 44 - in Neftekamsk, 20 people in Birsk branch of RSPK.

On this day donor campaigns, honouring the winners of the contest "Best Donor of Russia" and a presentation of certificates to donors, who became honorary donors RF, were held at RSPK and its branches.

In Ufa, at Theater Street near Bashkir State Medical University an exit reception of donors was organized in a mobile blood transfusion station. 51 people became donors. Also, a round table on blood donation and its components was carried out. One of the decisions taken was an initiative to create a Coordination Council of the Youth Donor Movement.

The transfusion of blood and blood components annually contributes to saving millions of lives around the world. Through transfusion it is possible to prolong the life of patients suffering from conditions that pose a threat to life, to support complex medical and surgical procedures, blood transfusion is necessary for the protection of health of mother and child during childbirth.
