Sabantui participants tasted pilaf and chak-chak in Riga

UFA, 8 June 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Ksenia Kalinina/. This year Sabantuy in Riga, which became since 2013 an annual event, is held here in the framework of the Days of Russian Culture in Latvia, "OPORA Russia" in the Baltic States informs.
The event was held by the Kurultai of Bashkirs of Latvia with the participation of the Baltic International Centre "Salavat Yulaev" and Society of Tatars of Latvia "Idel". The national holiday of Bashkirs and Tatars was organized with the support of the Latvian Ministry of Culture, the Department of Education, Culture and Sports of the Riga City Council and the Association of National and Cultural Societies of Latvia (ANKOL).
At the opening ceremony the chairman of board of the Baltic International Centre "Salavat Yulaev" Rina Khamitova read out a congratulatory letter from the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov and the Plenipotentiary Representative RB under the Russian President Arthur Shainurov, congratulated the participants on the holiday. The People's Artist of Tatarstan Rima Ibragimova presented a welcoming letter from the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
The folk festivities were attended by over 300 people, including many families with children, as well as guests from other cities and countries. The Sabantuy began with a concert featured the Bashkir and Tatar tunes, creative teams of national diasporas of the Baltic countries. Traditionally, sports contest were organized. All participants and guests tasted pilaf and chak-chak.
