Rustem Khamitov delivered a speech at a meeting of Regional Council of Russian Geographical Society

On June 7, the Head of Bashkortostan Republic Rustem Khamitov delivered a speech at a visiting session of the Regional Council of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS). It was attended by the First Vice-President of the Society Artur Chilingarov.

“In all municipalities and municipal districts of our republic local branches of the society are set up. In this work, we are probably one of the first in the Russian Federation. Our municipalities and urban districts took up the idea of creating such branches, and today they are gaining strength, momentum. Today there are more and more supporters of the ideas and ideology of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Bashkortostan”, the Head of the Republic said.

“Your branch is exemplary. The Russian Geographical Society actively supports this branch”, Artur Chilingarov underlined.

During the meeting, Rustem Khamitov and Artur Chilingarov signed an agreement on cooperation between the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Russian Geographical Society. The document is aimed at promoting the study of geography and related sciences of nature; developing of Bashkortostan territory by implementing scientific, environmental, social, educational, cultural and other programs and projects; cultivating love and respect for our native land, its history and nature; forming environmental responsibility and culture.

Among the priority activities of the Society in the republic are creating conditions for domestic tourism, opening new routes, brands of the republic, attracting investors in this sector. Since 2014 the Chairman of the Russian Geographical Society branch in Bashkortostan is a writer and traveler Kamil Ziganshin.
