International symposium dedicated to preservation of Shulgan-Tash Cave Paleolithic paintings will be held in Bashkiria

UFA, 2 June 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. From June 23 to 25 in Burzyan region, the International Symposium "Preservation and conservation issues of Shulgan-Tash Cave Paleolithic paintings and development of tourism infrastructure of "the Land of Ural-Batyr" will be held in the territory of "Shulgan-Tash" Museum-Reserve.
The symposium will bring together experts from different regions and cities of Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kemerovo, Yekaterinburg, as well as foreign guests: researcher of the National Centre of Primeval History Chretien Catherine Lea Susan (Perigueux, France), Director of the Altamira National Museum and Research Centre Pilar Fatas (Santander, Spain), restorer and expert in the field of rock art preservation Edal Giyame (Andorra la Vella, Principality of Andorra).
The symposium will discuss the issues of preservation, conservation and restoration of Palaeolithic paintings in Shulgan-Tash Cave, ecological safety of the cave, the development of tourism cluster in the surrounding area, the development of humanitarian and natural-science studies procedure in the cave.
From June 23 to July 6, the international expedition will continue its work in the reserve, which aim is to remove modern graffiti from the walls of cultural heritage site - the Shulgan-Tash Cave. The expedition will be headed by Edal Giyame - European restorer in the field of rock art. The international experts will be rendered assistance by the group of researchers and restoration specialists of the "Shulgan-Tash" Museum-Reserve in carrying out the expedition.
