Most Russians keep their savings in rubles - VCIOM

UFA, 25 May 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Ksenia Kalinina/. Most Russians keep their savings in rubles. This is evidenced by the data from a poll conducted by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM).

The national currency is still the main currency for storage savings for 57 percent of Russians. Only three and two percent of respondents have the dollar and euro savings, respectively. Traditionally, the US currency is chosen mostly by wealthy citizens (11 percent). According to 39 percent of the citizens, they do not have any savings.

According to the average forecast, which gave respondents in the end of April, the dollar will cost 70 rubles in three months, which is higher than the actual cost at the time of the poll (66 rubles on April 23-24). 37 percent of Russians believe that the cost will not change much during the year (69 rubles).

Since the beginning of the year the interest in currency fluctuations decreased. In April, 50 percent monitored the situation (19 percent on a regular basis) compared with 63 percent - in January. This share amounted to 61 percent year-on-year.
