Number of abortions reduced and infant mortality decreased in Bashkiria

UFA, 20 May 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Ksenia Kalinina/. In Bashkortostan, the number of abortions reduced and infant mortality decreased. This was reported at the parliamentary hearings by the Health Minister RB Anvar Bakirov in the State Assembly RB on May 20.

According to him, the number of induced abortions decreased by five percent for the year due to the service of preventive abortion counseling and psychological support.

The Minister said that the infant and child mortality was reducing with a good pace.

"Last year, the infant mortality rate was 7.3 deaths per 1,000 live births, while in the first quarter of this year 5.7. The maternal mortality rate in the republic is traditionally lower than in Russia and the Volga Federal District. With regard to total mortality, it was registered an increase of 1.5 percent last year. The target indicator, unfortunately, was not reached ", said Anvar Bakirov.

In the first quarter of 2016 the situation improved - the mortality rate has decreased by nearly eight percent.
