Russians do not travel by air due to lack of money - poll

UFA, 21 March 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Ksenia Kalinina/. Within two to three years 69 percent of Russians have not travelled by air. According to the survey of All-Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM), they explain it primarily by the lack of opportunities or urgent need (30 percent), lack of money for a ticket (24). 19 percent of Russians do not see any reason to travel long distances from home. Eight percent recognize that they suffer aerophobia. Four percent prefer other types of transport; two percent refer on their age, per one percent name lack of time and poor health as the reasons.

During the year, the share of air passengers in the country has not changed much - still about 20 percent of Russians (19 percent in 2014 and 22 - in 2015). In the past few years, nine percent flew only once, eight - two or three times. Two percent of respondents in this period made four or five flights, three percent - six times or more.
