One-third of Russian citizens would like to have a woman as president of the country

UFA, 4 March 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Arthur Basyrov/. One-third of Russian citizens would like to have a woman as the president of the country in the next 10-15 years. However, almost half of the respondents - 49 percent would not be delighted with such scenario. "Interfax" informs about it referring to a survey by "Levada-Centre".

According to the survey, 77 percent of Russians approve participation of women in politics. Among men, 66 percent of respondents were in favour of that, among women - 86 percent. Every fifth respondent was against women’s involvement in politics - 20 percent.

When asked whether it is important that women have the rights fully equal to men, 64 percent of Russians answered positive, 31 percent – negative.

The survey was conducted from February 19 to 24 among 800 people aged over 18 in 137 settlements of 48 regions.
