Ufa scientists will reconstruct appearance of ancient nomad found in Arkaim

UFA, 24 February 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. Ufa anthropologists will recreate appearance of the ancient nomad woman, whose remains were found during excavations in the vicinity of "Arkaim" reserve in the Chelyabinsk region. The so-called Chelyabinsk "Alien" and the two men were found in the cemetery dated around II-III centuries BC.

The woman was nearly 35-40 years old, her skull was unnaturally lengthened. Egor Kitov, the researcher of the Institute of Anthropology and Ethnography named after Mikloukho-Macklay believes that artificial cranial deformation of Sarmat-nomad probably demonstrates her high social status. The age of men buried next to her was 25 and 20-25 years.

As reported by "Arkaim" reserve, it is decided to send skulls of ancient people to Ufa to restore the appearance. The reconstruction will be made by the anthropologist Alexei Nechvaloda. The 3D-artist will create a virtual model of the woman. After completing the works Arkaim will host the "one exhibit" exposition. Visitors will be able to see the very reconstruction, 3D-model, photos from excavations, information about the monument and the results of research.

According to preliminary estimates, the sculpture will see the light in June 2016.
