First division of Ufa technopolis will be formed at BSU premises
UFA, 19 February 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Alexander Smirnov/. The first building of the Ufa technopolis will be formed at the premises of Bashkir State University (BSU), which will be transferred to the ownership of the republic. This was announced by the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov, following the meeting of the Council for Science.
“I do not think that we will manage to create a cluster at once with laboratories where these young scientists will live and carry out some research. I think that so far a kind of territorial fragmentation will continue to exist,” said the Head of the Region. “But already now we obtain a part of buildings of Bashkir State University into our ownership – a building, which is located at the highest point of the city. There will be about 40 thousand sq. m. We proceed to the repair and modernization of the building, we have the funds available for it. These funds, by the way, were received from sale of our Research Institute for Petroleum Transportation. I think that in a year and a half, this part of the technopolis will start operating.”
Another institution, considering hosting options of the technopolis divisions is Ufa State Petroleum Technological University.
“The same proposal was received from Ufa Petroleum University, which would like to form a department engaged in research at its premises, including research for Bashneft company, for our oil, gas companies,” Rustem Khamitov said. “By the way, the Petroleum University received a status of basic university. This suggests that its future is determined already for many years ahead. In addition, the university still is a major university of "Gazprom". And Bashneft, which is located quite close, in a kilometer away, is rather passive in this part. Bashneft should be persuaded to work with the Petroleum University.”
The Head of the Republic stressed the need of prompt technopolis establishing to bridge a gap between science and industry as quick as possible.
