Every fifth Russian lives "from day to day" with no plans for future - VCIOM

UFA, 16 February 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Ksenia Kalinina/. The Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) studied the social well-being of Russians in January of this year. According to recent data, 30 percent of respondents evaluate their life situation as "good" or "excellent", 56 percent as "normal", 11 percent as "bad" or "awful". In January of this year, the share of positive assessments of the situation in the country was 72 percent - surveyed assess the situation as "excellent", "good", "normal", 25 percent - as negative ( "everything is bad", " everything is awful"). Against this background, decline in optimism about the future of the country continues. The share of those who believe in the fact that the most difficult times are behind us is 14 percent. Nearly half (53 percent) believe that they are yet to come, and one in four (25) says that the Russians are now experiencing the most difficult times.

However, most people still tend to make plans for life - 80 percent in January 2016 compared with 79 for the same period of the last year. Regarding the availability of opportunities to plan their future, then the views of respondents disagree: 44 percent do so without encountering serious obstacles (last year - 40-47), 36 percent complain that under current conditions it is impossible (to mid-2015 the number decreased from 39 to 30 percent, and then began to grow). One in five (19 percent) respondent lives "from day to day" without seeking to make plans for the future.
