Ufa hosts Winter Spartakiad of PJSC Gazprom

UFA, 12 February 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Alexander Smirnov/. On February 12, 11th Winter Spartakiad (adult and junior) of PJSC Gazprom kicks off in Ufa. The Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov addressed to the participants of the competition with a greeting and wished them good health, optimism, successful starts and brilliant victories.

The 11th Winter Spartakiad of PJSC Gazprom will be held in Ufa from February 12 to 19. The opening ceremony of the event will be held at the "Ufa-Arena" on February 13.

The participants of the Spartakiad are employees and young athletes representing subsidiaries of PJSC Gazprom from different regions of Russia, as well as Belarus and the Republic of Armenia. 26 teams of Gazprom and 10 children's teams will participate in the sporting events. Total, the competitions will bring together over 2000 athletes and guests.

During the week 138 sets of medals in six sports will be competed for at eight venues in Ufa. Athletes will compete in skiing, basketball, volleyball, mini-football, shooting and table tennis. The final celebration of champions of Winter Spartakiad and the closing ceremony of the sports festival will be held on February 18 at the exhibition centre.

Ufa for the first time is chosen to host corporate events. The Spartakiad in Ufa will be a sporting debut for the team of JSC "Gazprom Armenia". For the first time competitions in volleyball among children's teams will be held.
