Urban population of Bashkiria increased by more than 3,000 people

UFA, 10 February 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Ksenia Kalinina/. According to Bashkortostan Statistics Agency, as of January 1 of this year, population of the republic amounted to 4,071,181 people. There is a decrease by 806 people (0.02 percent) compared with the same period of the last year.

As of the end of 2015 the republic remains the region with a high proportion of rural population. Statisticians estimate that urban population constitutes 2 515.3 thousand people (61.8 percent) and rural population 1 555.9 thousand (38.2 percent) people of the total population. Over the past year the 3387 people joined the ranks of urban residents and the number of rural residents decreased by 4193 people.

As Bashinform News Agency reported with reference to the Rosstat (State Statistics Service), Bashkortostan was the leader in the Volga Federal District in terms of population, Tatarstan took the second place - (3,868,537 people), the Nizhny Novgorod region - the third (3,258,645 people).
