Labour ministers of BRICS countries signed Declaration in Ufa

UFA, 27 January 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. In Ufa, the Ministers of Labour and Employment of the BRICS countries signed a Declaration. The adoption of this important international document concluded a two-day meeting of ministers of Russia, Brazil, India, China and the Republic of South Africa.

By signing the Declaration, the ministers of the five countries have recognized an important role of social dialogue and collective agreements, commending a contribution of social partners in development and implementation of policy in the field of labour and employment. One of the paragraphs of the document is related to introduction of new technologies in production, leading to increased productivity. The Declaration assigns a significant role to formalization of the labour market. The ministers committed themselves to follow the ILO recommendations to address the problems of illegal employment, in particular, to facilitate transition of workers from the informal to the formal economy, while respecting their fundamental rights and ensuring a possibility of income security, means of sustenance and entrepreneurship. According to the ministers, one of the main achievements of the adopted Declaration is a possibility of the information exchange among the BRICS member-states.

As Bashinform News Agency reported a meeting of Ministers of Labour and Employment of the BRICS countries took place for the first time. It became a final event of the presidency of the Russian Federation in BRICS. Yesterday in Ufa, there was an official transfer of the presidency of this largest international organization to India, the press service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Bashkortostan informs.
