Ufa claims to host international competitions in figure skating

UFA, 17 December 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Dmitry Slezin/. The capital of Bashkortostan is visited by the delegation of Figure Skating Federation of Russia led by the Federation President Alexander Gorshkov.

Together with Gorshkov in Ufa there are CEO Federation Alexander Kogan, Chief Financial Officer Olga Gerasimova and the Head of Organization and Conduct of Competitions Olga Kozhemyakina.

Ufa is considered one of the possible locations of the figure skating tournament ISU Challenger Series. The Commission checks the city for compliance with requirements for these competitions.

The ISU Challenger Series was established by the International Skating Union (ISU) in 2014 and is a traditional international tournament with the status of ISU tournaments.

The guests visited the Palace of Sports in Zorge Street - big and small ice arenas, technical rooms and locker rooms.

"Ufa city became known internationally. It has very well developed infrastructure, and we are, of course, interested in development of figure skating uniformly across the country. We have not seen much so far, but we hope that everything will be okay. Surely Ufa townspeople love figure skating. And we will bring strong athletes here that Ufa residents will be able to see firsthand this kind of sport", said the President of the Federation Alexander Gorshkov.
