VCIOM studied Russian dietary intake

UFA, 14 December 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Ksenia Kalinina/. The Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM) conducted a survey on the daily diet of Russians.

The basis of the dietary intake for more than three-quarters of Russians is cereals (85%), bakery products (85%), sunflower oil and butter (79%). Interviewees also regularly consume pasta (76%), fruit and vegetables (73%), meat (71%). Additional food includes canned fruit (70%), fish and seafood (66%), packaged juices (65%), semi-finished products, soda, canned vegetables (63%), sweets (60%). Most people think that they should limit the use of fast food (85%), salty snacks (85%), soda (84%), as well as semi-finished products (78%). Every second (49%) not more than once or twice a week, eats potato chips, crackers, salted nuts and drinks soda. More than two thirds of respondents supervise the diet of their children - 73% limit consumption of salty snacks, 71% - of soda.

Food packaging is examined by 63% of respondents with different periodicity: 31% - on a regular basis and 32% - occasionally. Women in this matter are more scrupulous than men (69% vs. 54%). More often people examine the packaging of milk and dairy products (57%), meat (56%) and confectionery (50%) products, fish products and seafood (51%).

37% consider psycho-emotional stress as the main factor influencing the state of health. The rest name physical activity (18% on average, and 26% among young people), balanced diet (19%) and environmental situation (18%).
