Physics teacher from Sterlitamak visited Hadron Collider

UFA, 9 December 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Olesya Seregina/. Ildar Kaznabaev, the physics teacher from Bashkir lyceum No.3 visited the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland, reports today "Sterlitamaksky Rabochy" newspaper.
“Two years ago, I learned that in Switzerland there is a school for teachers of physics. I filed an application, passed the competitive selection (five applicants per place) and managed to get to CERN. CERN - is the European Organization for Nuclear Research, the world's largest laboratory for High Energy Physics. They organized a school for teachers of physics in order to acquaint them with current trends of modern science, with intellectual and technical potential of CERN», Ildar Kaznabaev shared his impressions.
According to the teacher, the program was extensive. The teachers saw experiments at the Large Hadron Collider, visited the experimental setups and went on tours. Leading scientists read lectures in elementary particle physics, cosmology, particle accelerators and detectors.
Since 2006, CERN is organizing national programs for school teachers of physics. Every year more than 1,000 teachers from around the world participate in various events. This work of the scientific institution aims at popularizing fundamental physics among young people. The organizers of the Russian scientific school for teachers of physics this year were the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the National Centre for Intellectual Reserve MSU in cooperation with the European Organization for Nuclear Research.
