Ufa native Kristina Osipova - international draughts world champion

UFA, 5 November 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. Ufa native Kristina Osipova won the title of world champion in international draughts among girls under 16 years. The International Draughts Championship in the Netherlands was attended by boys and girls under the age of 10, 13, 16 and 19 years.
19 young draughts players competed for Russia; Bashkortostan was represented by six athletes. Among them there were Ufa residents Marsel Sharafutdinov, Kristina Osipova, Tamerlan Ahmerov, Daniil Ilyin, as well as representatives of Ishimbay - Agatha Parahina and Rufina Aiupova.
As a result of draughts battles Russians excelled in seven of the eight medal groups - won three gold, one silver and six bronze awards, the press service of the Federation of International Draughts RB informs.
Bashkir athletes entered the top ten, twice became the winners. Besides Kristina Osipova, in the same group (16 years) Agatha Parahina shared 6-7th place, Rufina Aiupova –ninth. Among boys under 16 years Marsel Sharafutdinov also became the ninth. Daniil Ilyin was the third among boys under 13 years, Tamerlan Ahmerov – the sixth.
Kristina Osipova is 15 years old; she is studying at the Bashkir Gymnasium No.158 named after Mustai Karim in Ufa. She started playing draughts at the age of six. Now she, like many other players from the team, is coached by Alexander Melnikov.
Kristina Osipova is the Russian champion in the team competition (as part Bashkortostan team), winner of the Cup of Russia in International Draughts among women in 2013. She is the bronze medalist of the world championship among girls under 14 years (2013).
