October 1 - the Day of Russian Land Forces

UFA, 1 October 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Arina Rakhimkulova/. On October 1, the Day of the Land Forces of Russia is marked. This professional holiday is set by the Presidential Decree in 2006.

This day is marked throughout the country and in Bashkortostan as the Land Forces include also mechanized infantry, tank, artillery and rocket forces, troop air defense, special forces, military units and institutions of logistics. That is, almost all the units of the Armed Forces located in the republic and being a part of the Central Military District.

The Land Forces as a kind of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are intended for fighting mostly on land. According to its combat capabilities they are able, in cooperation with other types of troops to conduct offensive to rout the enemy and invade its territory, to make fire attacks, to counter the invasion of the enemy, its major airborne assault, to hold firmly the occupied territories, areas and boundaries.

The Russian Defence Minister, Army General Sergey Shoigu congratulated servicemen and veterans on the holiday.
