Ufa residents looked through a telescope at the sun spots and prominences

UFA, 25 September 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Ksenia Kalinina/. On September 25, Ufa residents during the Festival of Science looked at the sun through the telescope and saw spots and prominences. Everybody who wanted to see up close the only star of the Solar System gathered at the planetarium telescopes located on the square in front of the "Bashkortostan" concert hall.

"We demonstrate people the sun in two telescopes. Telescope «Coronado» provides an approximation of 40-50 times. We look at the star using 18 mm lens. Anyone using the two telescopes can see dark sunspots and prominences (solar chromosphere in hydrogen lines H-alpha). Spots are the coldest areas on the sun. Prominences are "splashes" at the edges of the Sun", the expert on public relations of the Ufa Planetarium Andrey Kern told.

Recall that the All-Russian Science Festival will be held at 15 venues in Ufa, as well as eight venues in the cities of Bashkortostan from September 25 to 27.
