UFA, 27 August 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. This year, ticks have bitten more than nine thousand inhabitants of Bashkortostan. According to the Russian Federal Consumer Rights Protection and Human Health Control Service in RB, more than nine thousand people complaining of tick bites addressed to medical institutions for medical care. About three thousand of them were children. For comparison, in the same period of the last year there were more than 11 thousand people suffered from insects’ bites.
Of more than 7.5 thousand studied ticks 431 insects were infected with encephalitis virus. The causative agent of tick-borne borreliosis was found in 665. The tick-borne encephalitis incidence this year decreased by 2.7%.
Experts say that however, despite the end of tick season in late summer, a probability to get a bite of an infected insect preserves during the cool autumn days too.
