Legendary symbol is installed at the heart of the capital of the Bashkir Trans-Urals

UFA, 21 August 2015. /Bashinform News Agency/. A legendary symbol of Sibay city - a marten is installed at the heart of the capital of the Bashkir Trans-Urals. The marten depicted on the emblem and flag of Sibay now adorns the city as a sculpture.

The website of the city administration reports that the composition’s author – the sculptor Sergey Aparin - made a figure of the marten, with a length of three and a half metres of concrete and installed it on a metal base in the form of three-dimensional letters - "SIBAY".

Recall, according to a legend, over one hundred years ago, a hunter from the village of Novo-Sibaevo, whose name remained unknown, chasing a marten, excavated a rocky crevice where the animal hided, and found a heavy red clay interspersed with pyrite. The hunter did not know that he had found deposits of copper ore, which in the future would give birth to the city of Sibay.
