New landfill with capacity of 100 thousand tons per year will appear in Sterlitamak

UFA, 14 August 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. This year in Sterlitamak the second stage of solid waste landfill is completed with a total area of more than seven hectares. Its design capacity is 100 thousand tons per year. The project is realized by the investor and is estimated at 75 million rubles.
As the press service of the Ministry of Nature Management and Ecology RB informs, now excavation works on the vertical layout are completed. Preparations for the pit bottom to the herbicide treatment are held to prevent damage of impervious screen.
"It is also envisaged the construction of additional facilities required for full operation of modern landfill facility”, the director of LLC "Eco-STR" Airat Farkshatov said. “The territory will be landscaped and properly reclaimed after closing the landfill. The ongoing project provides the maximum protection of the atmosphere, soil and surface water from the spread of pathogens and harmful minerals".
According to the Chief of Sterlitamak Territorial Directorate of the Ministry of Ecology RB Azat Khaibullin, in 2012 a waste sorting complex was started there. Due to the high degree of extraction of recyclable materials only 7-10% of garbage were sent to the landfill. From the incoming waste 42 names of finished goods are produced - paper, glass, cardboard, PET bottles and tin cans. The second stage of the landfill will solve the issue of waste disposal in Sterlitamak and surrounding areas over the next 30 years.
