Rustem Khamitov: "UMPO justly is a flagship of the domestic engine-building industry"

On July 16, in Ufa the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov congratulated the staff of JSC "Ufa Engine Industrial Association" (UMPO) on the 90th anniversary of the company’s foundation. The solemn meeting in honour of the UMPO anniversary was held in the "Motorostroitel" Palace of Culture.

“UMPO is justly considered as one of the major enterprises for the republican economy, as its industrial brand, known far beyond the borders of Russia, real flagship of the domestic engine-building industry”, Rustem Khamitov said.

The Head of the Republic thanked UMPO for its participation in the preparations for the SCO and BRICS Summits held in Ufa, noting that a scale model of AL-31FP engine displayed in the press centre, manufactured by UMPO for Su-30, had attracted the attention of all guests.

Rustem Khamitov marked UMPO’s contribution to the establishment of the industrial capability of the republic, told about the prospects of the company and awarded the best workers with state awards of Bashkortostan.

Recall that the JSC "Ufa Engine Industrial Association", founded on July 17, 1925 is the largest developer and manufacturer of aircraft engines in Russia. It is a parent company of "Engines for Combat Aviation" division in the "United Engine Building Corporation". The main production facilities are concentrated at three sites in Ufa. The company employs more than 20 thousand people.

The main activities are development, production, maintenance and repair of aircraft turbojet engines, manufacture and repair of helicopter units, production of equipment for oil and gas industry.
