Rustem Khamitov thanked volunteers for their excellent work during the SCO and BRICS Summits

On July 15, in Ufa the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov visited the volunteers’ ball, congratulated them on the successful holding of the Summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS countries and thanked them for the excellent organization of work.

“Our guests had a very good impression of the capital of Bashkortostan Republic. And this positive image was created by you: you greeted guests at the airport, accompanied them along the way to hotels, worked with journalists. You've done a lot”, Rustem Khamitov said.

The Head of the Republic marked that the volunteers and the organizers had represented not only Ufa, but the whole Russia.

“Now, we should benefit from the Summits. We have become recognizable in the world. Many countries, cities in the world would dream about hosting such Summits. But we had a good fortune and great honour to host the SCO and BRICS summits in Ufa, Bashkortostan,” the Head of the Region said.

Rustem Khamitov presented letters of appreciation to particularly distinguished volunteers during the Summits.

Recall that nearly 10 thousand people - young people, senior citizens, people from other regions, as well as students from China, Iran, India, Turkey, Africa and the CIS - students of Ufa universities submitted applications for work as volunteers at the Summits.

In accordance with requests from the Organizing Committee it was selected 643 volunteers who worked in 43 venues in the city. They rendered assistance at the following venues: Congress Hall, the airport, hotels, theatres, museums, the press centre and other places.
