"Silk Road" project should have a multilateral dimension - Russian Foreign Minister
UFA, 10 July 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Sergey Zakharov/. The Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov is sure that the Russian-Chinese project "Silk Road" should have a "multilateral dimension".
"Even during the Moscow Summit in May this year, the Chinese President and the President of Russia signed a memorandum, which is an initiative on connecting "Silk Road" economic projects and the Eurasian economic integration process,” Sergey Lavrov said at a briefing in Ufa. “The initiative, put forward by the leaders of China and Russia, is now being considered by our partners within the Eurasian Economic Union, and the general opinion of the two countries is that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is very convenient and comfortable platform for everybody to discuss specific aspects of this initiative", Sergey Lavrov said.
"Our partners in the SCO are interested in considering in this format all aspects of the conjugation of the "Silk Road" and the Eurasian economic integration projects", he stressed.
