Japanese student decided to become a beekeeper in Bashkiria

UFA, 7 July 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. A Japanese student decided to become a beekeeper in Bashkiria. The 26-year-old Kenji Goto graduated from Bashkir State Agrarian University (BSAU), majoring in beekeeping. The other day he flies home, but in the end of August he plans to return to continue his studies as a postgraduate student.

Kenji started to receive his Higher Education in University of Kyoto, at the Faculty of Philology.

"I really wanted to learn the Russian language to become a translator. Although in my country it is less popular than English, German, French or other languages. In my third year under the student exchange program I continued my education in Russia, at Pushkin State Institute of Russian Language. After graduating, I worked for two years at home,” Kenji says. “While I was in Moscow, I went to a honey fair and then tasted Bashkir honey for the first time. The taste was incredible. In Japan, honey is not so tasty, perhaps because the Japanese do not know the technology of its making".

As Kenji admitted, education in Russia is much cheaper than in Japan. His future plans include further studies as a postgraduate student at BSAU and parallel to it beekeeping activities.

"I want to work in my specialty, perhaps I'll start here, and then I go back to Japan. I will promote the Bashkir honey and products made of it at home. Maybe I will keep bees in Japan. Plans are big. My parents and two sisters approve my decision, and strongly support me".
