Bashkortostan athletes are preparing to compete at the Summer Universiade in Gwangju
UFA, 2 July 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. Athletes from Bashkiria will participate in 28th Summer Universiade to be held in Gwangju (South Korea) from July 3 to 14, the Ministry of Youth and Sports RB informs.
Five sportsmen of the republic will participate as part of the Russian national team. They will compete for medals: in athletics - Gulshat Fazlitdinova (running - 5000 m) and Egor Nikolaev (running - 3000 m); in shooting - Regina Rizvanova; fencing - Roman Kuts (foil); Egor Feoktistov as a part of Russia men's national volleyball team.
According to forecasts of the organizers the World Student Forum will bring together about 13 thousand athletes from more than 140 countries. The Universiade program includes the competitions in 21 sports - rowing, badminton, basketball, baseball, water polo, volleyball, handball, golf, judo, athletics, table tennis, swimming, diving, gymnastics, shooting, archery tennis, taekwondo, fencing, football, gymnastics.
Russian athletes representing 132 universities of Russia will take part in all sports except baseball. The Russian sports delegation is comprised of representatives of 58 regions of the Russian Federation.
At the last 27th World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan, the Russian team took the first place in the team standings with a record result: 292 medals (155 gold, 75 silver and 62 bronze).
