Bashkirs and Tatars spent Sabantuy in the Far North
UFA, 16 June 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. A Sabantuy of Tatars and Bashkirs was held in a picturesque place of Pokrovsky highway in the suburb of Yakutsk.
Competitions in weight-lifting, kuresh wrestling, jumping in bags were carried out out as part of the festival. All participants were awarded with valuable prizes. Guests were treated national dishes, mare's milk. According to the guests, it was funny and good family holiday.
The Sabantuy organizer was the Tatar-Bashkir cultural centre "Yaktash". It was founded in 1993, headed by Anatoly Rakhmatullin. The "Yaktash" Centre conducts research activity regarding family history of Tatars and Bashkirs.
"The Tatars and Bashkirs live in Yakutia for centuries", the leader Bashkirs and Tatars in Yakutia Anatoly Rakhmatullin said. “We live in a united and happy family of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and receive great assistance from the Department of the Peoples Affairs, the administration of Yakutsk. In the far northern land, which became our homeland, we try to preserve our language, culture and customs".
