More than a quarter of Russians want to spend their summer vacation in Crimea - VCIOM
UFA, 4 June 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. More than a quarter of Russians want to spend their summer vacation in Crimea. According to a survey conducted by specialists of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM), the popularity of this tourist destination increased more than three times for a year (from 8% in 2014 to 27% in 2015).
In addition to Crimea, the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus is also a popular destination among VCIOM respondents - it was chosen by 23% of Russians.
Another 12% of respondents believe that the best holiday should be within our country.
The statistical study revealed that every year fewer and fewer Russians are planning to stay at home in summer: for example, if in 2004 this figure was 59%, then this year it is 40%. Mainly the elderly, respondents with primary education and low income are not going to travel anywhere during the summer.
Financial difficulties are still the main reason for staying at home during vacations. Every seventh is not capable to take a leave due to a lot of work. Others do not go on a trip because the state of health (13%), family reasons (7%). Some people just prefer to stay at home and do not want to go anywhere (5%).
A quarter of respondents (26%) will spend vacations at a summer cottage.
The initiative All-Russian opinion poll was conducted in 130 settlements in 46 regions and republics of Russia, 1,600 people were interviewed. Statistical error margin does not exceed 3.5%.
