Doctors successfully transplanted donor heart in Bashkortostan

UFA, 20 May 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. In Bashkortostan, the Republican Cardiology Centre specialists conducted six successful transplantations of donor hearts. The operation was done to a 45-year resident of Sterlitamak with a sharp decline in the pumping function of the heart as a result of dilated cardiomyopathy.

As the Deputy Chief of Surgery Bogdan Oleinik marked, currently the patient's condition is stable, he undergoes planned rehabilitation.

According to the Ministry of Health RB, six heart transplantations were performed in 2013 in Bashkortostan. The first operation on donor heart transplantation was made to 52-year-old patient in Ufa on August 27, 2013. It became possible thanks to the joint work of the Republican Cardiology Centre and the Federal Scientific Centre of Transplantation and Artificial Organs named after Academician V.I.Shumakov.

Currently in the republic there are 12 people on the waiting list for a heart transplant. In 2015 the Cardiology Centre scheduled to run three similar operations. For the patient a transplant surgery of donor heart is completely free, it is financed from the budget. The cost of such an operation is 950 000 rubles.
