54 percent of Russians mark falsification of historical facts - VCIOM

UFA, 19 May 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. 54 percent of our fellow citizens ever noticed cases of deliberate distortion of our country's history. In most cases, according to the Russians the events of World War II were falsified. All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presented the data from a survey of distorting the history of Russia.
Respondents also marked errors and distortion of the facts from the history of pre-revolutionary Russia (four percent), the Soviet period (three percent). There were cases of deliberate distortion of history on the part of Ukrainian politicians (six percent). Contradictory information was marked in school textbooks (four percent), media (three percent), and movies (one percent).
The majority of Russians (83 percent) offer to combat falsification, and above all to appeal to journalists for presenting accurate information about the history of our country, and conducting reasoned debates with those who distort historical facts.
Others consider it necessary to improve the quality of history teaching in schools and universities. The initiative All-Russian opinion poll was held on May 2-3, 2015. 1600 respondents were interviewed at 130 settlements in 46 regions and republics of Russia. The statistical error does not exceed 3.5 percent.
