Rustem Khamitov met with Chinese Minister of Transport Yang Chuantang

UFA, 14 May 2015. /Bashinform News Agency/. On May 14, at the House of the Republic the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov had a meeting with the Minister of Transport of the People's Republic of China Yang Chuantang, the press service of the head of the region informs.
Rustem Khamitov told the Minister of Transport of the Republic of China about the industrial potential of Bashkortostan with an emphasis on the development of industries such as oil production, oil refining, petrochemicals and chemicals, agriculture, modernization and construction of roads.
“Nearly 300 kilometres of the "Western China - Europe" highway will pass through our republic. In addition, major federal highways also cross our territory. We have a very good aviation hub, air communication. In terms of passenger transportation our airport takes the eighth-ninth place in the Russian Federation. With the exception of Moscow and St. Petersburg, we are in the top three-four largest airports in the country,” the Head of the Republic said.
During the meeting it was marked that for the past few years relations with the regions of China had been actively developing in Bashkortostan. Several agreements were signed; investment projects are prepared for implementation. Rustem Khamitov marked with regret the lack of direct air links with China, noting that "over time, we'll need a direct flight."
According to the Head of the Republic, "Currently business with China ranked fifth in the turnover of our republic with foreign countries. We supply to China mainly chemistry products, refinery fuel. And we purchase Chinese everyday goods, equipment".
“This autumn, after the SCO and BRICS Summits, we would like to hold a meeting with regional leaders aiming at successful development of business at the interregional level between Russia, the People's Republic of China and Bashkortostan”, Rustem Khamitov said.
In turn, Yang Chuantang stressed the fact that China and Russia had many areas of cooperation, including between Bashkortostan and Chinese provinces. Cooperation in the field of transport seems to be particularly promising.
“I came to participate in the 7th meeting of transport ministers of the SCO member states. The main purpose of the meeting is to accelerate the improvement of transport infrastructure and strengthen mutual relations in the field of transport. The development of transport can be considered as the foundation of the national economy and improvement of people's life,” the PRC Minister of Transport said.
