UFA, 22 April 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. Bashkortostan joined the European Immunization Week, which takes place from April 20 to 27. According to the chief doctor of the Republican Centre for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and Infectious Diseases Rafael Yapparov the immunization problem becomes one of the topical in connection with an increase in infectious diseases not only in Russia, but also in Western Europe, Latin America and Africa.
Annually in Bashkortostan within the republican immunization program more than 1.8 million people are immunized against infectious diseases.
Due to the achieved level of vaccination coverage in 2014 in the republic such diseases as diphtheria, tetanus, polio and rubella were not registered. However, as noted by Rafael Yapparov, epidemic situation of certain infections somewhat deteriorated. This is evidenced by an increased incidence of pertussis 1.7 times and registration of two cases of measles among the local population in 2015.

In Bashkortostan vaccination of papillomatous infection is carried out. Total since 2010 about 3.5 thousand girls aged 12 to 16 years were vaccinated. In 2015, two thousand doses of vaccine were purchased.
“Questions of infectious safety are paramount in view of preparation for the SCO and BRICS Summits in Ufa. Vaccination against hepatitis A, dysentery and measles, primarily among health care workers, law enforcement officers, volunteers is held,” Rafael Yapparov said.
