21 athletes from Bashkortostan prepare for Summer Olympics 2016

UFA, 16 April 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. 21 sportsmen from Bashkortostan prepare to participate in the XXXI Summer Olympic Games to be held from August 5 to 21 2016 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports RB reports.

The Ministry of Sports of Russia approved the list of candidates for the Olympic team of our country engaged in preparations for the upcoming Games. The list includes 1,709 athletes from 78 Russian regions.

The largest number of candidates is in athletics - 323. It is followed by shooting (bullet and clay pigeon shooting - 97), swimming (91, including open water swimming), volleyball (85, including beach volleyball), rowing (boat racing - 85) , wrestling (Greco-Roman, freestyle and women - 83). The smallest number of candidates is in golf - only one athlete (Marina Balikoeva). In canoe slalom and triathlon there are 11 candidates, in archery – 13, in table tennis - 14, in synchronous swimming - 15, in trampoline tumbling - 16.

List of athletes-candidates from the republic is published on the website of regional youth and sports department.

The final nominal structure of the team Russia will be approved no later than July 17, 2016.
