Little patient with hypospadias was operated with assistance of German colleagues in Ufa

UFA, 14 April 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. Doctors of Republican Children's Hospital together with colleagues from Germany operated a two-year-old boy with congenital disorders of urethra. In particular, the surgery was carried out by Doctor Shamil Smakov and director of the Clinic of Urology University of Regensburg Professor Lucas Wessel.

Hypospadias is the most common inborn abnormality of the anatomical structure of the male sexual organ. Today it is diagnosed in one of 150 male births; annually up to 200 young patients with complicated forms of pathology are operated.

Elective surgery in our Republican Children's Hospital, which lasted about one hour and a half, was successful. According to Lucas Wessel, to obtain a good result similar operations are conducted only in specialized centres.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Health RB, the operation was carried out in the framework of ongoing in Ufa International scientific-practical conference "Modern aspects of surgery and education in Russia and Germany" with the participation of the University of Regensburg and Heidelberg (Germany).
