Wikivoyage prepared a free guide to Ufa

UFA, 13 April 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Alim Faizov/. On April 24-26, Wiki Sabantuy will be held in Ufa – a festival dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Bashkir Wikipedia. Preparations for the event are in full swing, the Bashkir Wikipedia administrator Rustam Nuriyev said. Participants of Wikivoyage - relative project of Wikipedia designed for tourists and travelers - have created a guide to Ufa, which will help the guests to find their way in the city. Like in Wikipedia, articles of Wikivoyage are open for editing by everyone.

Editors of Wikivoyage for several years have been gathering information about the objects of cultural heritage - buildings of cultural and historical value. Only in Ufa there are a few hundred of these objects, and not all of them are photographed under a free license used by Wikipedia, for example, there is still no image of Lenin monument near Gostiny Dvor, the Aksakov House-Museum, Sergius Cathedral and other important urban objects. This also applies to natural monuments, which the International Photo Competition "Wiki Loves the Earth" will focus on. It will start on May 1. There are more than two hundred protected natural objects in the territory of the republic, which can be photographed already now, Alexander Tsirlin, Wikivoyage administrator said.
