St. George ribbons will be distributed in Bashkortostan on April 22

UFA, 7 April 2015. /Bashinform News Agency,Elmira Sabirova/. On April 22, Bashkortostan will join the All-Russia campaign "Saint George Ribbon". Two-colored pieces of cloth, which are a symbol of Victory, this day will be distributed free of charge by active members of the Republican Centre of Volunteer Movement and Youth Initiatives Support in streets and squares of the republican settlements.

According to the organization, about 27,000 ribbons will be distributed in the region on April 22.

For the first time a campaign on distribution of St. George's ribbons was held on the eve of the 60th anniversary of Victory in spring 2005. Then it was initiated by RIA Novosti news agency and the regional public organization of young people social support "Student Community". The campaign brought together people of different ages and social groups. Since then, on the eve of the holiday people pin ribbons to clothing, tie them to bags and car antennas.

The St. George ribbon is a symbol of Victory commemoration in the Great Patriotic War. It is a sign of eternal gratitude to the veterans who liberated the world from fascism.
