UFA, 3 April 2015. /Bashinform News Agency/. Almost 80 percent of Russians believe that it is better to live in a marriage than to be single, and only one in ten respondents said that he would not to be knit together by marriage. This is testified by the results of a survey conducted by VCIOM.
Most of the survey participants (60 percent) identify the main purpose of marriage as providing future generations. Another 43 percent of Russians believe that people get married in order to have support. A third of respondents believe that marriage makes it possible to take care of someone (36 percent), never to part with your loved one (31 percent) and not to feel alone (28 percent).
38 percent of Russians believe that marriage helps to arrange better living conditions. Another 17 percent of respondents named wedding just a mere tradition.
According to one in five Russians, household issues can become a major obstacle to starting a family. About 22 percent of respondents scares necessity to work hard for providing welfare of the family. Sixth part of the respondents believe that the family limits their personal freedom (18 percent) and prevents career (ten percent), and 16 percent say that the monotony of family life has a negative impact on relationships. Another three percent of Russians think that marriage destroys love.
1.6 thousand people from 132 settlements in 46 regions of Russia took part in the survey, held from December 6 to 7, 2014. The statistical error does not exceed 3.5 percent.
According to Rosstat data, in 2013 1.2 million couples were registered in Russia. The same year 667,000 couples decided to divorce.
