"I am sure that the BRICS Summit will be held at the highest level in Ufa" - Brazilian Ambassador to the Russian Federation

UFA, 10 February 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulchachak Khannanova/. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Russian Federation, Antonio José Vallim Guerreiro is sure that the BRICS Summit in Ufa in July 2015 will be held at the highest level and become a new stage in the development of a joint policy and economic strategy of the countries-members of this alliance. He said this in an interview for the Moscow edition "Eurasian Law Journal." He stressed that Russia and, in particular, Bashkortostan stood a good chance of holding Summits-2015 "at the highest level".

"One of priorities of the foreign policy of our country in the last decade has been close cooperation within BRICS. On June 15-16, 2014 in the Brazilian cities of Fortaleza and Brasilia the sixth Summit of the BRICS countries was held, which gave a new impetus to our movement. Further there will be the BRICS Summit 2015 in Ufa, Russia. I wish Russia success as its presidency in the BRICS. I am sure that the BRICS Summit in Ufa, the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan, will be held at the highest level and will be useful in all respects, both for Russia and for all our partners in the BRICS group. Dilma Rousseff, the President of Brazil will certainly arrive in Ufa. One of the tasks of this Summit, as I see it, will be discussing a possibility of not only diversification of our cooperation aspects, which at the moment is developing in various fields, but also deepening and strengthening of cooperation in all fields, which are of mutual interest to us. Given the fact that the positions of BRICS countries in the world is getting more and more strong, their economic and political weight also increases", Mr Guerreiro said.

According to Mr Guerreiro, development progress of bilateral relations between Russia and Brazil is also crucial. He noted that in late December 1991 "Brazil was one of the first Latin American countries that recognized the Russian Federation as a state - successor to the USSR. Since 1994, the Russian-Brazilian relations have been characterized by upward trend. In June 2000, a Primary Agreement on Partnership Relations was signed between Russia and Brazil, which entered into force in January 2002. Preservation and development of the partnership between Brazil and Russia is a strategic political task for us. Russian and Brazilian economies may be comparable in size and reach 2 trillion dollars. We occupy the 7-8th places in the list of countries with the largest economies. Our opportunities and prospects are promising", the Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil considers.

As the chief editor of the "Eurasian Law Journal" Insur Farkhutdinov said, the edition opened a series of articles about the BRICS countries with the publication of the Brazilian Ambassador’s interview. "The Journal plans to continue interviews with ambassadors and experts of the SCO and BRICS countries in the coming months. This is important because, according to forecasts of some experts, the economic potential of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa is so that they may become the five dominant economic systems of the world already in 2050".
