All projects under construction in Bashkortostan should be accessible to people with disabilities - Blind Association

UFA, 3 February 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Catherine Sokolova/. Lack of ramps, problems in employment, transport not equipped for people with limited mobility - these and other issues were discussed at the round table to protect the rights of people with disabilities, organized by the Public Chamber of Bashkortostan.
According to Oleg Rotov, the Chairman of the republican branch of the Russian Society of Disabled People enforcement of legislation to protect the rights of citizens with limited mobility should be carried out by social activists.
“Transport indeed is one of the most urgent problems. The Ufa International Airport and the train station became convenient for people with disabilities”, Oleg Rotov said. “Of course, there are drawbacks, but they are gradually corrected. For example, at the railway station platforms need to be finished. But there is a special group of people working to help people with disabilities while boarding on the train or deboarding it.”
The round table "Protecting the rights of people with disabilities" became the 15th prior to the submission of the annual report of the Public Chamber of the Republic on the state of civil society in the region.
To date, experts of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection RB are beginning to work on defining republican facilities to be included in the "Accessible Environment" program in 2015.
