Elvira Latypova
UFA, 26 January 2015. /Bashinform News Agency,Elvira Latypova/. Trends in higher education sphere were studied in a poll conducted by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM) on January 17-18.
Russians mark positive changes in the lives of students much often today than two years ago, according to the poll. The largest shift has occurred in the cultural level of students, according to the poll participants. Its increase is observed today by 34 percent of respondents, while in 2013 only 19 percent had such opinion.
For two years, the share of those who observe an improvement of vocational training of graduates increased almost double (from 16 to 29 percent). But 28 percent still think that the situation is likely to improve, and 21 percent do not see any dramatic changes. 26 percent believe that the teachers' attitudes to their work improved.
Opinions divided on the financial position of students. 24 percent of respondents believe that it has improved, 26 percent - that it has worsened, 28 - that it has remained the same.
Respondents rate an opportunity to find a job after graduation and get a high-paying position as the least: 40 percent of the poll participants believe that the situation has worsened. But the positive trend is that if two years ago only 10.8 percent of respondents answered that the situation in obtaining employment was improving, then now they constitute 18 percent.
65 percent of Russians believe that higher education is a great help in building a successful career and achievement of life goals. Moreover, 42 percent of respondents categorically state that those who don’t have a university degree are doomed to low-paid and undervalued jobs (though 50 percent disagree). Thus, 52 percent of respondents are of the opinion that in our time you can make a career and well-arrange your life and without a diploma.
The issue of payable education was also turned to be controversial. 42 percent admit any spending for education, and 43 percent disagree with them.
1,600 residents of 132 settlements in 46 regions of the Russian Federation were interrogated during the poll. The statistical error does not exceed 3.5 percent.
